Stop Two Tier Pricing

The Conservatives are making Harrogate residents pay more for leisure facilities

Local Liberal Democrats are campaigning against an unfair pricing policy which means Harrogate residents can pay more to use council leisure facilities than people elsewhere in North Yorkshire.

Conservative-run North Yorkshire Council has defended the higher prices by pointing to the investment and upgrades made to leisure facilities in the former Harrogate district. But residents have already paid for those improvements through their council tax. The Conservatives cannot use the cost of those upgrades as an excuse to charge local people more now.

The Liberal Democrats believe residents should pay the same price for council leisure facilities wherever they live in North Yorkshire. Your postcode should not determine how much you pay to use your local swimming pool, gym or other leisure facilities.

Local Lib Dem campaigner Stephanie Ouzman is calling on North Yorkshire Council to scrap the two-tier pricing system.
